Role Purpose
The Snr HSEQ Manager is responsible for leading the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) function across Worley Field Services, providing visible leadership, operational assurance and practical support to ensure the business consistently delivers safe, compliant and high-quality services.
The role supports operational maintenance, shutdowns, fabrication activities and project delivery across the business.
Working closely with senior leadership, operational management, customers and corporate functions, the Snr HSEQ Manager is accountable for developing and maintaining an effective HSEQ assurance framework that supports safe and assured delivery, operational excellence, customer satisfaction and continual improvement.
The Snr HSEQ Manager will champion a positive assurance culture aligned with Worley Life, ensuring HSEQ considerations are embedded into everyday decision-making and recognised as a key enabler of successful business performance.
- Key Accountabilities
- Leadership and Culture
- Provide visible and effective HSEQ leadership across Worley Field Services, promoting a culture where safety, quality, environmental stewardship and wellbeing are fundamental to business success
- Champion the principles of Worley Life by encouraging people to speak up, be curious, take action and share lessons learned.
- Coach, influence and support leaders, managers and supervisors to strengthen accountability for HSEQ performance and continual improvement
- Lead by example through active participation in leadership engagements, assurance activities, management reviews and learning initiative
- Identify emerging risks, opportunities and industry developments that enhance organisational capability, operational performance and assurance effectiveness.
- Contribute as a member of the Worley Field Services leadership team, supporting business strategy, operational planning and continuous improvement objectives.
- HSEQ Assurance and Operational Support
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective HSEQ assurance framework aligned with management system requirements, customer expectations and regulatory obligations.
- Provide professional HSEQ advice, guidance and support across maintenance activities, shutdowns, fabrication operations and project delivery.
- Support mobilisation and delivery of new contracts and projects by ensuring appropriate HSEQ arrangements, resources, documentation and controls are established.
- Undertake regular site visits, leadership engagements, audits, inspections and assurance reviews to verify compliance and assess the effectiveness of HSEQ arrangement
- Monitor operational performance and work collaboratively with management teams to identify practical improvements that reduce risk and improve delivery performance
- Build effective relationships with customers and customers HSEQ representatives to ensure expectations are understood and achieved.
- Support tendering, business development and proposal activities, ensuring HSEQ commitments, risks and customer requirements are appropriately addressed.
- Quality and Management Systems
- Maintain and continually improve the Integrated Management System to ensure it remains effective, practical and compliant with business, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and BS EN 1090 requirements.
- Promote a culture of quality excellence and “right first time” delivery across all business activities.
- Support implementation of inspection and test requirements, fabrication quality controls, welding assurance arrangements and associated verification activities.
- Support implementation of new systems, processes and digital improvement initiatives across the business.
- Lead management system audits, surveillance audits and certification activities, ensuring findings are effectively addressed and closed out
- Risk, Compliance and Governance
- Monitor and review HSEQ risks across the business, ensuring appropriate controls are established and maintained.
- Maintain awareness of applicable UK legislation, industry requirements and customer expectations and support their effective implementation throughout the business.
- Lead regulatory compliance reviews and support engagement with regulatory authorities where required.
- Support business continuity, emergency preparedness, crisis management and resilience activities as applicable to Worley Field Services operations.
- Develop, monitor and review HSEQ objectives, plans, performance indicators and improvement programmes.
- Facilitate management reviews and governance meetings to evaluate HSEQ performance and drive continual improvement.
- Incident, Event and Improvement Management
- Ensure incidents, near misses, environmental events, quality events and non-conformances are reported, investigated and managed in accordance with company requirements.
- Lead or support investigations as appropriate, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are effectively implemented and verified.
- Monitor action close-out performance and ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated and embedded across the business.
- Drive continual improvement through trend analysis, performance monitoring, assurance findings and best-practice sharing.
- Promote a learning culture that encourages open reporting, constructive feedback and organisational learning
- People and Capability Development
- Lead, coach and develop a team of HSEQ personnel to ensure a competent, engaged and high-performing HSEQ function capable of supporting business and project delivery requirements.
- Support workforce competence development through training, coaching, mentoring and succession planning activities.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development of HSEQ personnel across the business.
- Coach, mentor and support leaders at all levels to strengthen HSE leadership capability, improve decision-making and embed accountability for HSE performance across the business
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, Diploma or equivalent professional qualification in Health, Safety, Environment, Quality or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in HSEQ leadership, assurance, compliance or operational risk management roles within high-hazard industries.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 4501 management systems.
- Demonstrable experience leading audits, inspections, investigations and assurance programmes.
- Strong understanding of applicable UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Experience within fabrication, industrial services, engineering, maintenance or shutdown environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 3834 and BS EN 1090 requirements.
- Experience supporting customer assurance programmes and regulatory inspections
