The UK Sector Lead – Power Infrastructure (Generation, Networks & Storage) is accountable for leading Worley’s market position, growth strategy, client engagement and capture activity across the UK Power Sector. The role requires a highly credible industry leader with deep relationships across the Power industry that will help the business identify, frame, capture and assist in delivery of projects and partnerships across the sector. The individual will serve as the senior power market lead for the UK, working across Operations, Sector and Business Development leadership to shape market strategy, open executive‑level relationships, guide priority pursuits, and provide continuity from opportunity development into delivery.
You’ll Do / Carry Out:
- Lead the development of Worley’s Power strategy across the UK.
- Translate the Power sector strategic plan into action – ensure effective levels of support, both of the current activities and the long‑term objectives.
- Work alongside sector growth and business development to deliver growth market objectives.
- Support Sales and Operations in leading strategic pursuits/bids to ensure sector alignment and to improve value and win rates.
- Guide the Business Development team on where to look for opportunities.
- Explore and value‑assess industry sectors.
- Annual update of the Power sector strategic plan in consultation with key interfaces, and ongoing championing of the plan to ensure effective levels of support.
- Lead sector growth market leaders and provide guidance and stakeholder support to enable growth market objectives.
- Define and sponsor sector‑aligned growth markets including the exploration, validation and commercialization of hypothesised value propositions, markets, and business models.
- Provide sector input to corporate requirements such as GE, Board, investor relations, communications, risk, etc.
- Work with M&A team to develop strategy‑aligned plans including targets and justifications for GE and Board support.
- Provide continuity from capture into execution, including acting as Executive Sponsor or senior delivery lead on major power programmes when required.
Leadership & Strategic Capabilities:
- P&L experience – ideally have managed a material business or delivered projects at scale.
- A recognised industry professional with established relationships and network.
- Experience successfully partnering with and influencing client executives, senior management and other key industry stakeholders.
- Network of high‑level key client contacts and ability to enhance customer relationships and bring strong customer advocacy to Worley.
- Ability to manage through influence and build agreement and alignment across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strategically insightful & inclined to see the big picture and what is driving future markets and help business growth accordingly.
- Demonstrable leadership in Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) and Quality standards, with a strong track record of driving compliance and continuous improvement across projects.
- Solid understanding of the UK regulatory landscape, including Ofgem frameworks and mechanisms such as Contracts for Difference (CfD).
Technical & Functional Expertise:
- Deep industry/domain expertise in the UK Power sector and credibility with customers and key stakeholders – strong understanding of Worley’s business.
- Solid understanding of UK power and infrastructure project delivery/project governance experience including on site.
- Demonstrated experience across the full engineering service offering, including consulting, advisory, engineering, procurement, construction management (EPCM), commissioning and asset support services.
- Proven experience in high‑voltage (HV) transmission systems and design within the UK, including knowledge of relevant engineering standards and delivery frameworks.
- Proven ability to originate and shape opportunities from early‑stage consulting and concept development (strategy, feasibility, Pre‑FEED/FEED) through to detailed design, execution and delivery of complex capital projects.
- Familiarity with delivering projects across power generation (thermal, renewable, low‑carbon), transmission & distribution networks, energy storage (including BESS), and power supply solutions for high‑demand users such as data centres.
- Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments, including optimisation, modification and expansion of existing infrastructure alongside new‑build developments.
- Strong understanding of integrated, data‑centric project delivery approaches, including digital, automation and advanced analytics solutions that enhance asset performance and lifecycle value.
- Experience aligning commercial models and contracting strategies (e.g., reimbursable, lump sum, alliance/partnering) with Worley’s delivery capabilities and risk posture.
- Experience navigating risk in contracts, negotiating T&Cs and an ability to mitigate risks through positive decision‑making.
- Experience in innovation and bringing new solutions to market to help drive Worley’s Power business growth.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Extensive leadership and management experience within the power sector, spanning the full project lifecycle from advisory through to EPC/EPCM delivery.
- Proven track record in senior roles such as Programme/Project Director, Operations, and Business Development, with demonstrated capability in leading complex, large‑scale projects and driving commercial and operational success.
- Proven experience growing a power business or sector.
- Established network across government, operators, OEMs and Tier 1 contractors.
- In‑depth understanding of the UK power market, including its regulatory environment, key clients, delivery models, and supply chain landscape.
Education and Qualifications:
- Chartered or Professional Engineer status (preferred).
- Advanced leadership training and/or business management qualification (MBA desirable).
