Our growing Geotechnical Practice in the UK seeks talented individuals with strong technical and communication skills who are eager to develop and take the next step in their career. The UK Geotechnical Practice works closely with colleagues in UAE and our practices in Australia and North America, and our projects span the UK, Africa, Asia and Europe. We are currently recruiting candidates for Geotechnical Consultant positions based in either our London Central or Glasgow office. These roles typically require a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience up to engineer level. Candidates receive excellent career development potential, including training, mentoring and opportunities for international experience. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided.
The roles will combine the full range of geotechnical skills from desk studies through designing site investigations, subcontractor management, ground modelling, geotechnical interpretation, design and construction support. A working knowledge of onshore and offshore developments and familiarity with specialist software such as OpenGround and Leapfrog is desirable.
Responsibilities- Promote a culture of zero harm within the business and our projects.
- Provide geotechnical engineering knowledge on projects and pursuits, including geological site reconnaissance, geotechnical site characterization, geotechnical data management, geotechnical analysis, design and detailing.
- Undertake field work including supervision and management of geotechnical ground investigations, which will include managing subcontractors.
- Deliver quality technical reports and submissions.
- Support Geoscience leads in the pursuit of new business by contributing towards cost estimates and schedules.
- Shadow Geoscience team leads by following corporate, safety, sustainability, quality, business development, engineering procedures and processes.
- Support growth of the Geoscience Service Line by contributing towards our expanding workload.
- Attend and participate in client meetings and deliver client and industry‑facing project presentations.
- Work as part of an integrated delivery team comprising other engineering disciplines, professional environmental scientists, project delivery and support staff on existing and new Worley Consulting/Worley projects.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience practicing geotechnical engineering, ranging from site supervision, pre‑feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction.
- Ability to work in multi‑disciplined teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with Leapfrog and Openground software suites.
- Self‑starter, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks.
- Proficiency in writing clear, logical and concise technical reports.
- Demonstrate logical and independent thinking.
- Geotechnical design in accordance with Eurocodes.
- Strong ability to present, analyse and interpret data to a very high standard.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and spend periods of time on field‑based projects across the UK and internationally.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and possession of a full valid driving licence.
- Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution, including a strong commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
- Candidates with a Geotechnical Engineering background are preferred, although not essential.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
