The Senior HSE Manager for the UK provides support to the Location Lead SVP, Project and Construction Management, and HSE Teams. They will work closely with teams across the UK to coach, influence, and help implement effective HSE programmes that drive safe behaviours and ensure compliance through governance checks aligned with management and project system requirements.
The HSE Manager UK will have responsibility for HSE deliverables in supporting bids, FEEDs, and associated tenders, and will be required to interface with both internal and external stakeholders. This role is primarily home‑office based/hybrid based but will require a degree of travel for site engagement and other office locations across the UK.
A key aspect of the HSE Manager UK role is providing direct, hands‑on support to projects across the UK Operation. Beyond strategic oversight, this position will actively engage with project teams in the field—working closely with Project Managers, Site Leaders, and HSE personnel to ensure that HSE requirements are fully understood, embedded, and effectively executed.
The HSE Manager UK will be part of the UK extended leadership team acting as HSE operational business partner to the UK Operational Lead SVP. This role involves providing proactive HSE guidance, ensuring that operational decisions reflect best practice, legislative requirements, and company standards, while also helping to drive a culture of safety leadership across all levels of the organization.
You will do/carry out:
- Provide Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Management Teams, and their teams with the necessary information, guidance, and associated services related to Health, Safety, and Environmental activities.
- Manage both HSE and Training and Competence Teams.
- Maintain a hands‑on approach to support business demands and actively drive operational alignment and HSE excellence across the UK.
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Environment priorities are embedded in every aspect of project delivery.
- Provide HSE leadership, ensuring alignment between day‑to‑day operations, project execution and broader UK organizational objectives.
- Influence decisions, behaviours, and outcomes to drive strong HSE performance across the UK.
- Work closely with Operational and Project Management Teams to ensure alignment with company‑wide initiatives, HSE strategies, and long‑term priorities.
- Lead and guide HSE teams, shape direction, and influence outcomes across all project and operational settings.
- Drive continuous improvement, strengthen HSE governance, provide HSE leadership, support and enable project HSE delivery, and ensure consistent implementation of standards and policies across all UK operations.
You will have/bring:
- Diploma Qualified, or equivalent, operational, functional and management experience.
- Several years of experience in a HSE disciplined role.
- Experience with large EPC/EPCM projects - detailed design through to EPC execution and close out.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, working proactively and initiating collaboration with peers and stakeholders across the organization.
- Experience in effectively communicating and presenting complex proposals and reports to senior level management.
- Ability to persuade and influence others with a participative management style and a cooperative team approach.
