We are seeking an experienced Deepwater Drilling Manager with expertise in working with drilling contractors and operators. The successful candidate will oversee drilling engineering and operations, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and budget compliance. This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and effective stakeholder relationships. This is a multi-year position based in Aberdeen, UK, with regular trips to India during the planning phase. Drilling activities will occur in India, and the role will eventually relocate to our office in India.
Key responsibilities- Drilling Operations Management: Oversee all drilling operations, ensuring alignment with safety, schedule, and budget.
- Contractor Liaison: Act as the primary contact for the drilling contractor, reviewing plans and ensuring compliance.
- HSE Compliance: Ensure safety and environmental standards are met, lead safety audits and incident investigations.
- Performance Monitoring: Report on drilling performance, monitor KPIs, and update stakeholders.
- Budget Management: Control costs, optimize resources, and manage the drilling budget.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the drilling team, fostering skills and industry best practices.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with geology, engineering, logistics, procurement, and other departments.
- Bachelor’s in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 20 years in drilling operations, with 10+ in management, especially in deepwater projects.
- Proven success in large-scale energy projects.
- Certifications in safety and drilling operations (e.g., IWCF, Well Control).
- Technical expertise, negotiation skills, project management, strong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, adaptability.
