Overview
This 18-month global internship programme will involve rotations through each of the WVS International Training Centres and several outreach programmes. The internship is designed to support your development as a clinician, educator, and content creator through diverse international veterinary experiences. This is the first WVS Academy Global Internship position and so we will be working to develop the role with the successful applicant to generate maximum benefit to both the intern and beneficiaries of WVS.
Application requirements
You must be a RCVS Qualified Veterinary Surgeon MRCVS and have the right to work in the UK.
One year experience out in practice following qualification is desired.
You will
· Gain clinical experience in resource limited clinical environments across the world.
· Develop skills in the creation of educational content and online learning.
· Develop soft skills in working effectively in different cultures and teams.
· Learn about approaches to rabies control and large-scale dog population management.
Role and responsibilities
The role is split across two main areas of focus: supporting the development of the WVS Academy platform to support international veterinary training; and working as a key member of the ITC teams, supporting the clinical work, and supporting the team to adopt the protocols, methods and approaches outlined in the WVS Academy into their routine clinical work.
1) Oversee WVS Academy content creation:
· Work with the WVS Academy team to identify priority areas of development through monitoring usage of WVS Academy platforms.
· Coordinate volunteers and contributors to expand the site content, managing workflow and sustaining engagement to create articles, videos, and presentations.
· Create content in priority areas using text, illustration, Gizmo, and video from clinics.
· Write and coordinate the publishing of the monthly email to Academy users.
· Production of a monthly report of progress and activities.
· Support in writing the annual report of activities on the project.
2) Conduct internal training and review protocols at ITCs:
· Provide periodic refresher sessions to our WVS workforce on specific subjects using content from the WVS Academy.
· Review clinical protocols during work placements at each ITC and provide guidance to align with standardised protocols on the WVS Academy.
· Review WVS Training methods and look for ways to improve education approach, participant engagement and standardisation of resources.

Details
Renumeration for the 18-month period will be £25,000, paid from the UK (£1,389 per month). The cost of travel to each ITC, airport transfers, insurance, visa costs, accommodation and vaccinations will be covered by WVS. We want you to be able to make use of your time during travel, which is reflected in 8 weeks of paid annual leave during the 18-month programme. This can be taken in blocks of no less than 1 week and no more than 4 weeks. The return to the UK during rotation 4 is intended to provide time to spend time with the UK team, and also have some respite from travel. Accommodation for this period is not provided by WVS and so the plan for where you would be based during this time is open for discussion.
