- Catering Assistant - Part Time (September Start)
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm (20 hours per week) plus regular overtime
We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Catering Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Rochdale from Tuesday 1st September.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly school catering team, helping to provide nutritious meals for students and staff in a busy kitchen environment.
With school-friendly hours and regular overtime available, this role is ideal for someone looking for work that fits around childcare or other commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals.
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy lunch service.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Washing up and ensuring kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored correctly.
- Following food safety procedures and health & hygiene regulations at all times.
- Assisting with stock rotation and general kitchen duties as required.
- The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working in the UK food industry is essential.
- A Food Hygiene or Food Handling certificate is preferred.
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude with excellent teamwork skills.
- A reliable and punctual approach to work.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Compliance Requirements
This role is subject to safer recruitment procedures in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. The successful candidate will be required to:
- Hold or obtain an Enhanced DBS check, including a Children's Barred List check.
- Provide satisfactory references covering the previous two years of employment.
- Complete all required pre-employment checks, including identity, right to work in the UK, and qualification verification where applicable.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
