About the Role
Cover People are currently supporting a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Bury with the appointment of a permanent English Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established English department with a strong focus on academic achievement, high-quality teaching and excellent student outcomes. The school has a supportive senior leadership team, clear behaviour expectations and a positive learning environment where both staff and students are encouraged to thrive.
The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and GCSE, inspiring students to develop a love of reading, writing and communication. Early Career Teachers will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme and dedicated mentoring, while experienced teachers will have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives. Teachers will be paid in line with the M1-M6 Teacher Pay Scale from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature
- Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively
- Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students
- Support students' academic, personal and social development

Requirements
- QTS or equivalent UK teaching qualification
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and GCSE
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A passion for English and raising student attainment
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Right to work in the UK
