   Cover People are currently recruiting for a PE Teacher to join a secondary school in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, starting in January 2027.

   This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PE Teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for a full-time teaching position within a supportive secondary school environment.

   You will be responsible for delivering engaging and purposeful Physical Education lessons, helping pupils develop their sporting abilities, physical fitness, teamwork and confidence while making a positive impact on their academic and personal development.

   This role would suit a passionate PE specialist who is confident delivering the secondary PE curriculum, encouraging participation in sport and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

   Key Responsibilities

   • Deliver high-quality PE lessons across the secondary age range.
   • Plan and deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
   • Teach a range of sports and physical activities, developing pupils' skills, fitness and sporting knowledge.
   • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience and healthy competition.
   • Monitor, assess and track pupil progress effectively.
   • Manage behaviour and maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
   • Differentiate activities to meet the needs and abilities of a diverse range of learners.
   • Promote physical wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and participation in sport.
   • Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed during practical lessons.
   • Support extracurricular sporting activities and contribute to the wider PE department where required.
   • Build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
   • Support the academic, physical and personal development of all learners.

   Requirements

   • QTS or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
   • Strong subject knowledge across the secondary PE curriculum.
   • Confidence delivering practical lessons across a range of sports and physical activities.
   • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
