Cover People are currently recruiting for a Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Bury, Greater Manchester, starting in January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maths Teacher or Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for a full‑time teaching position within a supportive secondary school environment.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and purposeful Maths lessons, helping pupils develop their numerical skills, mathematical understanding and problem‑solving abilities while making a positive impact on their academic progress.
This role would suit a passionate Maths specialist who is confident delivering the secondary Maths curriculum, building positive relationships with pupils and creating a positive and purposeful learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across the secondary age range.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
- Support pupils in developing their mathematical knowledge, numerical fluency and problem‑solving skills.
- Monitor, assess and track pupil progress effectively.
- Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
- Prepare pupils for assessments and examinations where appropriate.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback to support progress.
- Encourage pupil participation, confidence and a positive attitude towards Maths.
- Contribute to the wider Maths department and school community.
- Support the academic and personal development of all learners.
Requirements
- QTS or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum.
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
- Confidence delivering engaging lessons that support pupils of varying abilities.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A passion for Maths, teaching and pupil progress.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- The right to work in the UK.
