The Global PMO Manager and Portfolio Analyst will be the primary support to the Global Head, PMO but will also closely interact with the regional PMOs and Project Managers in the field. The job holder will be responsible for fulfilling or supporting the execution of the key responsibilities of the PMO function, including becoming the global super user for our project and portfolio management tool that is currently being rolled out across the business.

Additionally, the job holder will support the development, operation and maintenance of regional and functional project registers, coordinate with Finance for tracking project costs vs budget and contributing and coordinating knowledge sharing and consistency of approach across the group.

Your main responsibilities on a day to day basis will be:

  • Provide SATS Senior Leadership (GMB) with oversight of major strategic and business critical/high profile projects; including status, progress monitoring, governance, risk management, resourcing, budget management and deliverables status and outlook.
  • Provide guidance on new project launch prioritisation, monitor project portfolios, challenge the rate of progress towards objectives and adequacy of resources to projects, and facilitate communication between project teams and senior management.
  • Oversee and standardise project management practices and reporting across the Group, establish and enforce project management methodologies, processes and tools (WRIKE) to ensure consistency and efficiency in project execution.
  • Provide direct project management leadership as required for high priority/high value projects, provide coaching support to junior project managers, and direct intervention for projects off-track at GMB request.
  • Leverage organisational and other resources/capabilities to best effect, defining and sharing best-practices, securing key stakeholder and leadership support, and deploying external expertise as required to accelerate or enable progress towards objectives.
  • Develop processes to ensure prioritisation of projects, identification of interdependencies, conflicts in timing and resource allocations, project bottlenecks and resolution of the same.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Project and Portfolio Management Tools and Systems: Past experience in a PMO role with first-hand exposure to the set-up and operation of proprietary project and portfolio management tools would be a distinct advantage for this role. Experience and a keen interest in the use and ongoing development of cloud-based technology for project and portfolio management, and an enthusiasm to take the lead role within SATS for widespread adoption and maximised utilisation of its capabilities is also a desirable quality.
  • Finance/Operational/Project Management: Clear understanding of what strong project management looks like, and the key elements enabling it, plus first-hand experience in project management. Experienced in operating in an operational environment (of any form) a solid understanding of operating structures and performance management criteria. A solid understanding of operations finance, finance indicators and financial reports.
  • Analytical: Able to understand, interpret and challenge operations performance reports and finance reports and able to develop further analyses of the same as required. Able to create meaningful and insightful performance dashboards and reports that provide a clear indication of project and portfolio performance, progress to date and against plan, use of resources to date and forward projection, risk and risk management.
  • Aptitudes: Experience in a global environment and comfortable with operating flexibly across international time zones. Confident communicator at all levels both formally and informally. Self-motivated and able to work remotely without on-site supervision. Circa 5 years experience with circa 3 years in the area of Business Transformation, Project Management and/or Change Management programmes. Experience with organisations operating with a mature PMO function utilising PPM technology would be an advantage.
