WFS is seeking an individual with the right attributes that wants to join one of the world's leading cargo handlers and bring valuable skills to the business. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join as a Transport Duty Manager at London Heathrow. The successful Transport Duty Manager will manage a team of 5/6 and circa 50 trucks and drivers, reporting directly to the UK Transport Manager. The Transport Duty Manager will be the first point of contact for drivers, customers, and main hauliers, with a strong focus on planning, compliance, customer satisfaction, communication, and overall responsibility for transport operations whilst on duty.
Your main responsibilities on a day-to-day basis will be:
- Responsible for ensuring a coherent interface between every area of the operation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Motivate and develop planners to equip them with the skills to manage their teams of drivers.
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislations and health & safety requirements.
- Be responsible for communication throughout the transport operation.
- Propose and implement changes to the operation to improve efficiency and/or levels of performance.
- Ensure a secure and safe environment for team members and assets.
- Achieve efficiency through managing planning & controlling staff on a daily basis, and an ongoing basis through objectives.
- Manage a team of c.50 drivers, along with planning teams.
- Ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved, including compliance, service, and financial targets.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- 5+ years transport management experience in a multi-site environment.
- Good working knowledge of the airfreight distribution sector.
- Confident manager, skilled at setting clear objectives and motivating teams.
- Highly tolerant of change, being able to work with an evolving organisation.
- National/International CPC holder (Essential).
- ADR, hazardous awareness and training to Level D (Cargo Op.) an advantage.
