This is a pivotal senior leadership role, responsible for shaping, scaling and delivering AI and automation solutions that drive measurable business value across the organisation.

The successful candidate will lead a team that is expected to become global in reach, acting as the central point of leadership for AI solution strategy, delivery, partner engagement, business case ownership and benefit realisation.

The role will own the end-to-end AI and automation agenda: from ideation and horizon scanning, through prioritisation, business case development, solution delivery, adoption, scaling and benefits tracking.

They will work closely with senior business leaders, technology, product, operations, risk, compliance and external partners to ensure AI solutions are practical, governed, scalable and aligned to Global Payments strategic priorities.

The Senior Director will be accountable for the outcomes of the team — ensuring high-potential AI opportunities are translated into well-defined use cases, delivered at pace, embedded into business operations and measured against clear value expectations.

  • What you’ll bring
  • Significant experience leading AI, automation, digital transformation or technology-enabled change at enterprise scale.
  • Proven ability to shape strategy and translate it into practical delivery roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of AI, generative AI, automation, agents, copilots, workflow automation and emerging enterprise AI use cases.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, ideally across multiple geographies or with a pathway to global scale.
  • Demonstrable experience managing senior business stakeholders and influencing executive-level decisions.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with experience building business cases and tracking benefits.
  • Experience working with technology, product, data, risk, compliance and operational teams to deliver complex change.
  • Proven ability to move initiatives from idea to implementation and then into scaled adoption.
  • Experience managing external technology partners, consultancies or AI vendors.
  • Strong understanding of governance, data, security and compliance considerations in AI delivery.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, bring structure to complex problems and make pragmatic prioritisation decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts in business language.
  • Strong leadership presence, with the confidence to challenge, influence and bring others with them.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in financial services, payments, fintech or another regulated environment.
  • Experience delivering AI solutions across commercial, operational, customer, product or technology functions.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Agentforce, copilots, AI agents, machine learning models, workflow automation or enterprise Saa S platforms.
  • Experience establishing a centre of excellence, transformation office or enterprise-wide innovation capability.
