Role Overview

The Production Manager oversees the operational and commercial delivery of production, maximizing the value of the creative team’s output. This includes responsibility for personnel, technology, budgets, and scheduling to ensure that filming and post‑production remain on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day production operations, including staff scheduling, financial controls, and operational costs such as salaries, production expenses, and equipment rentals.
  • Ensure appropriate contracts, health and safety compliance, and insurance provisions are in place.
  • Coordinate logistical planning across the production, including transport, accommodation, catering, and general operational planning and problem‑solving.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal facility providers and external suppliers, proactively managing communication, risks, and potential delays.
  • Own and manage programme budgets, including forecasting, monitoring, and controlling costs, ensuring efficiencies are achieved and required margins are met.
  • Escalate concerns to the Production Executive as required.
  • Negotiate, appoint, and contract vendors, suppliers, and freelancers; ensure all contingent worker hires comply with current UK and international employment and tax regulations.
  • Ensure all production and post‑production paperwork, contracts, and compliance documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Conduct risk assessments and secure appropriate production insurance; ensure all health and safety requirements are met.
  • Contribute to the development of technical workflows and production plans.
  • Manage, arrange, and attend outside broadcasts and/or remote productions.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the production team, including line management, mentoring, and support of Production Coordinators and Assistants.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of production documentation, including call sheets and studio information.
  • Champion IMG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives and actively support the organisation’s mental health programmes.
  • Collaborate across pre‑production, production, and post‑production to support IMG’s GreenToScreen sustainability goals and help reduce the production’s carbon footprint.
  • Undertake additional duties within the scope and purpose of the role as required.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a Production Manager role, ideally with international experience across a range of productions, including live OBs and/or remote operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing junior production management staff.
  • Strong experience managing large‑scale production budgets, working closely with production finance teams.
  • In‑depth knowledge of production and post‑production technologies and workflows.
  • Understanding and practical experience of archive and music clearance processes.
  • Strong knowledge of production insurance and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience working directly with clients and on‑screen talent.
  • Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts.
  • Confidence managing large crews during pre‑production and event delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills.
  • Essential: experience working with international teams and stakeholders where English is not a first language. Desirable: multi‑language skills.

Employment Conditions

Full‑time fixed‑term contract until 11th September 2027. Role based at our office in Stockley Park, Uxbridge. Some international travel may be required. Average 40 hours per week – during the event period, some flexibility will be required as hours may extend depending on the production schedule and operational needs.
