The IT Product Owner is a connector, orchestrator, and navigator between the IT (Information Technology) Organization and the Business, ensuring that the product delivered meets the needs, business requirements, and priorities outlined by our business partners. The Product Owner turns vision into reality and, alongside the solution architect, helps to guide the delivery team to create innovative solutions in real-world applications.
The IT Product Owner plays a key role within agile development teams and is responsible for translating the strategic vision outlined by the IT Product Manager into actionable tasks and features that the development team can implement. Acting as a bridge between stakeholders and the development team, the Product Owner plays a crucial role in defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog. They work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to gather and distill requirements, ensuring that the development team has a clear understanding of what needs to be built and why.
Throughout the development process, the Product Owner makes informed decisions on priorities, clarifies requirements, and provides continuous feedback to the team. Additionally, they actively participate in sprint planning, monitor progress, and collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure the final product aligns with customer expectations and business objectives. The role demands a combination of technical product knowledge, business acumen, and effective communication skills to successfully guide the development team in delivering a product that meets both stakeholder needs and organizational goals.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:- Ensures alignment and continuity with Product Managers and Business vision.
- Communicates a clear vision and strategy for the product or service being developed.
- Gathers and prioritizes product requirements based on Product Manager strategy, stakeholder feedback, market trends, and business objectives.
- Works closely with development teams to ensure that the product is developed in accordance with the Agile methodology.
- Participates in sprint planning meetings, helping the team understand the scope of work for each sprint.
- Collects and integrates customer feedback into the product development process.
- Experience in or with a Business-to-Business (B2B) Agile IT development environment.
- Proven ability to translate product vision into an action plan.
- Proven ability to plan and coordinate production IT deployments in conjunction with business change management processes.
- Demonstrates techniques for quickly and effectively understanding and communicating business stakeholder technology requirements and business value.
- Demonstrates skills in effectively negotiating competing development priorities based on business strategy and value assessments.
- Demonstrates knowledge of product analytics by creating and using delivery metrics, predictability, and forecasting.
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic UX techniques including the development of user personas and business journey mapping.
- Proven skills in Business Analysis.
- Effective verbal and written communication for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 2-5 years of experience working as a Product Owner or in Product Management.
- 2-5 years in designing and implementing solutions in a SaaS environment or have worked in revenue or finance operations.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in recurring revenue product offerings and/or billing models that support recurring revenue.
- 2-5 years of experience working directly with business stakeholders.
