World Rugby is an International Federation and a global movement comprising more than 500 million fans and eight million players across 132 national member federations. As well as being a Federation, World Rugby owns several key commercial properties and events, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, Global SVNS Series and Women’s XV. These events are delivered through World Rugby’s Events & Media Company and provide a critical funding source for the Game's growth and development.

Through World Rugby’s Global Services division, World Rugby is recruiting for the position of an in-house Travel Manager reporting to the Director of Procurement & Travel. The Travel Manager’s primary responsibility will be owning the strategic travel programme, across corporate travel, teams/groups and meeting and event. The role will also manage the relationship with World Rugby’s appointed Travel Management Company, to ensure a consistently high level of service, and seek savings and efficiencies across the programme. The role is ideally based in London, but can also be based in Dublin.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure the smooth delivery of the World Rugby travel programme and related projects.
  • Manage the strategic and day-to-day relationship with World Rugby’s appointed Travel Management Company, through weekly meetings, reporting and analysis and quarterly strategic business reviews.
  • Budget management, tracking, reporting and reconciling of travel expenses to identify cost and seek savings and efficiencies.
  • Management of the World Rugby travel policy, including educating travelers and monitoring compliance.
  • Support the specific travel requirements of internal departments and external stakeholders, for example Local Operating Companies for Rugby World Cups and Executive Board/Council Members.
  • Collate and provide feedback on travel services and system providers; investigate complaints and issues to a satisfactory resolution, ensuring a high level of support and service delivery.

COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant client-side travel management experience, ideally from a sports, events, media or comparable organization/industry.
  • Knowledge of the travel industry, and an appetite to seek best practice and innovation.
  • Project management skills, experience with data reporting and analysis.
  • Experience working across all levels of an organization and with external stakeholders.
