Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event. Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. RWC 2025 will see 16 teams compete, all of whom will be hosted in a number of our 30 Team Bases. Each Team Base will consist of an outdoor training venue, indoor training venue, swimming pool, gym and a hotel. RWC 2025 will be appointing a Team Base Coordinator to each city to support the operations of the Team Bases within that city during the tournament.
The Host City Coordinator will be an integral member of the Tournament Operations Team, reporting to the Host City Manager. You will assist on the successful operational delivery of all match day and non-match day activities within the official host cities. The Host City Coordinator will be a key contact during the Rugby World Cup amongst City and Venue stakeholders. The Host City Coordinator will work closely with all other operational areas plus external stakeholders to ensure all facilities meet the needs of all client groups, and all official host cities obligations are delivered and their rights are met. The measure of success being the quality of the delivery and resilience of the host cities during the tournament as well as the positive fan experience across all our official host cities.
LIST OF KEY DATES
- Role will be required for specific days in July and early August for training purposes, before undertaking an onsite role across multiple Host Cities during August and September for the tournament.
- Readiness Session in Exeter – 15th July
- Staff Orientation Day – 4th August
- Training days – 11th and 12th August
- Match Weekend One (in York) – 20th August until 25th August
- Match Weekend Two (in Exeter) – 28th August until 1st September
- Match Weekend Three (in Exeter) – 4th September until 7th September
- Match Weekend Five (in London Fan Zone) – 19th September until 20th September
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Alongside the Venue and City Management Team, responsible for the operational delivery of each match day and non-match day activity in our official host cities.
- Assist in the delivery of Official Host City activations and the operational requirements of the Rugby World Cup tournament.
- Assist in identifying and highlighting major risks and proposing mitigation measures, activating contingency plans alongside venues, official host locations and World Rugby.
- Work with World Rugby to ensure all partners’ requirements are delivered in our official host cities.
- Manage constructive communication channels both within and between the LOC, venues and external stakeholders.
- Represent RWC2025 at external stakeholder meetings as required.
- Support Fan Experience & Fan Services team in Official Host City Fan Zones and Fan Plazas, as required.
- Other duties as required to meet organisational or team objectives, as directed by the RWC2025 leadership team.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and coordinating interfaces between them.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven communication skills and ability to deliver quality reports.
- Strong administrative and IT skills including MS Office.
- All applicants must have a current and valid right to work in the UK.
- Experience in a role with a major sporting event landscape that involved managing external stakeholders to deliver a successful event operations.
- A working knowledge of the international rugby environment.
