Job Specification:

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be a highly focused individual, a team player, willing to take initiative, and able to prioritise your workload. You will have excellent written and spoken English, as well as being able to liaise with customers/colleagues in other departments, and external contacts such as suppliers. This is a hands-on role and will require the successful candidate to be involved in the detail of the business as well as understand the bigger picture and make sense of the numbers at the end of each month.

Outline of main duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate management accounts and ensure they are prepared on a timely basis, in line with the agreed company timetable and to the highest governance and professional standards.
  • This role covers 8 entities and continuously growing via M&A and organic growth as a group of companies individually.
  • Providing commentary on end of month accounts.
  • Experience with Budgets and Forecasts (P&L and Cash Flow).
  • Posting of regular journals such as accruals, prepayments, depreciation, deferred income/expense etc.
  • Monitoring of aged debtors (liaising with credit control) and creditors on a weekly basis.
  • Preparing of any ad hoc reports for external & internal purposes.
  • Sense checking the transactional team’s work after month-end.
  • Balance Sheet accounts full reconciliation.
  • Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Processing Timely payment runs.
  • Covering the supervisor in their absence (bank reconciliations, payments, going through the monthly task list).
  • Ad Hoc Tasks as required.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior finance team members, reviewing their work, providing guidance and supporting their professional development.
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors during the year-end audit process.
  • Supporting the integration of newly acquired entities into the group’s financial reporting framework, including chart of accounts alignment and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of month-end close and financial reporting procedures.
  • Monitoring and managing cashflow, including short-term cash forecasting to ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity across all entities.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the internal control framework.
  • Assisting with preparation of corporation tax packs and supporting the tax compliance process in coordination with external advisors.
