Help us become the Planet’s Bookstore. At World of Books, we give millions of books a second life — reducing waste, supporting charities and making reading more affordable and sustainable for everyone. Since 2002, we’ve grown into the world’s largest seller of used books, serving customers in 190+ countries, employing 1,000+ people, and proudly operating as a certified B-Corp.

Now we’re looking for a UK Trading Manager to take ownership of the commercial levers that power our growth. If you love data, thrive in fast-moving e-commerce environments, and enjoy turning insight into action — this is your role.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you’ll lead trading performance across our UK business — partnering with pricing, marketing, supply, product, finance and operations to optimise the metrics that drive revenue, profit and customer experience. You’ll act as the commercial heartbeat of the business: spotting issues early, identifying opportunities, and ensuring teams move quickly to deliver impact.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead weekly trading reviews with senior stakeholders and the executive team
  • Monitor and improve key commercial and customer KPIs including:
  • Inventory availability & sell-through
  • Conversion & AOV
  • LTV:CAC & NPS
  • Turn data into actionable insights that drive revenue and profitability
  • Own key trading periods (e.g. peak/holiday campaigns)
  • Partner with analytics to build best-in-class dashboards and reporting
  • Continuously audit the website/app experience through a customer lens
  • Develop cross‑functional initiatives (promotions, clearance strategies, shipping/pricing tactics)
  • What success looks like

Within your first year, you’ll have:

    • Built clear ownership and accountability for performance metrics
    • Reduced issue resolution time across trading inputs
    • Strengthened cross‑functional collaboration
    • Delivered measurable profitability improvements through testing & promotions
    • Led a high‑performing peak trading period with strong YoY growth

    What we’re looking for

    • Strong commercial and trading acumen in e‑commerce or online retail
    • Highly data‑driven with excellent analytical skills
    • Confident influencing senior stakeholders cross‑functionally
    • Experience with pricing, promotions, and selling physical products online
    • Background in e‑commerce, commercial strategy or FP&A
    • Familiarity with Shopify, Algolia, Bloomreach, GA or similar tools

    Why join World of Books?

    • Certified B-Corp
    • Real ownership and impact
    • Fast‑growing, entrepreneurial culture
    • Opportunity to shape how millions of books are bought and reused every year

If you’re excited about combining commercial performance with positive environmental impact, we’d love to hear from you.
