The Assistant Station Manager, UK Aviation plays a critical role in supporting the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of aviation fuelling operations at Inverness Airport. Working closely with the Station Manager, this position ensures that all operational activity meets the highest standards of Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) while providing leadership, coaching, and support to the onsite refuelling team. This role is essential to maintaining the operational integrity of World Fuels into-plane services, ensuring all aviation products are handled, stored, and moved safely and in full accordance with Company Operating Procedures.

You will contribute to planning, people leadership, operational oversight, compliance, and continuous improvement all vital to delivering a world-class fuelling operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence & Compliance
    • Ensure all Quality Control and Vehicle Documentation is current and completed daily; act promptly on any shortfalls.
    • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and movement of aviation fuel products per Company standards.
    • Complete daily stock reconciliation and support month-end processes (i6 and manual).
    • Lead and coordinate with internal and external teams during inspections, audits, and regulatory visits.
    • Attend and represent World Fuel at Airport Safety Meetings.
    • Monitor and report incidents; maintain and update the SSHE Tracker monthly.
  • People Leadership
    • Motivate, guide, and manage a team of Refuellers to deliver a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
    • Conduct task observations for technicians and contractors; provide feedback and escalate non-compliance.
    • Support the Station Manager with resource planning and shift pattern management, ensuring efficiency and cost control.
    • Lead the station in the absence of the Station Manager, acting as the primary operational point of contact.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Collate and report KPI data monthly.
    • Monitor and record staff On-Time Performance, investigate variances, and report findings.
    • Develop and deliver Toolbox Talks to promote safety awareness and continuous learning.
    • Update and maintain the HMP Register, ensuring all equipment inspections are completed on time.
    • Proactively identify gaps in operational routines and implement corrective actions.
  • Administrative & Support Duties
    • Arrange visitor and vehicle passes for World Fuel and external personnel requiring airside access.
    • Undertake additional responsibilities and project work as assigned by the UK Operations Manager.
    • Support the development of a high-performance safety culture through consistent use of Report It and other Company safety tools.
Essential
  • LGV 1 (C+E) driving licence.
  • 3+ years Class 1 driving experience, ideally with fuel-based products.
  • Strong understanding of safe fuel handling, storage, and movement.
  • Experience in environments with high SSHE standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills to support planning, budgeting, and audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to reach Inverness Airport within 45 minutes.
Highly Desirable
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading teams.
  • Previous aviation fuelling experience or exposure to the aviation fuel sector.
  • A strategic mindset regarding long-term operational performance, safety, and profitability.
