In this role you will lead the control framework for physical and financial energy trading, overseeing daily P&L validation, exposure reporting, and curve governance. You will partner with Trading, Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology to support senior leadership and the end-to-end trading lifecycle. You will maintain strong valuation and risk oversight, drive process improvements, and promote a robust control culture. The position sits at the core of commercial decision-making within Supply Trading and offers strategic, cross-functional impact.
Responsibilities
- Own daily P&L production, validation and analysis; provide independent review of P&L attribution and key valuation drivers
- Investigate and reduce unexplained P&L through robust analysis and control monitoring
- Collaborate with Front Office to understand strategies, positions, and market exposures
- Validate exposure reporting and ensure accurate reflection in risk and financial reporting
- Identify, investigate, and escalate control exceptions, valuation issues, and exposure breaches
- Lead daily pricing and forward curve validation across physical and financial markets
- Manage curve construction, validation and maintenance across products and benchmarks
- Ensure pricing inputs come from approved, independent market sources
- Investigate pricing anomalies, stale data, curve movements, and valuation impacts
- Develop exception reporting and management dashboards; drive control improvements
- Support month-end valuation and reconciliations with Accounting; assist audits and testing
- Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and transparency in workflows
- Support ETRM enhancements, testing, and system upgrades
- Participate in strategic projects, onboarding of new products, and expansion initiatives
Key requirements
- Strong experience in Product Control, Market Risk, Trading Risk, Risk Control, Valuation Control, or Commodities Finance
- Deep understanding of physical and financial energy markets (oil and refined products)
- Experience with mark-to-market valuation, P&L attribution, exposure reporting, and pricing methodologies
- Strong understanding of front-to-back trade lifecycle
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to challenge constructively and influence across multiple teams
- Experience with ETRM platforms and market data processes is highly desirable
- Strong Excel, Power BI, and SQL knowledge is highly desirable
