Our Glenda Spooner Farm visitor centre is looking for a passionate and organised Kitchen Supervisor to lead the day-to-day running of our visitor centre kitchen. This is a hands-on role where you will prepare, cook and serve high-quality, coffee shop-style food while ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. Working closely with the Centre Manager and wider team, you will help deliver a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all visitors. This role is 24 hours per week worked over Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8.30am to 5.00pm. Additional hours may be required to cover events and facility hires. Free shared-onsite staff accommodation may be available. This is not family accommodation and only available to employees of the charity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Cook, prepare and present coffee shop style food to a high standard.
- Work closely with the Senior Centre Promotions Officer and Centre Manager on the range of food to ensure maximum ROI.
- Order and maintain stocking levels of food, catering supplies etc and maintain accurate records of purchases.
- Shopping, receiving deliveries and stock rotation will be required.
- Ensure the kitchen and coffee shop areas are prepared for visitors prior to opening; including the setting up of tables and chairs, condiments etc. and cleaning down at end of day.
- Organisation of routine servicing and maintenance of kitchen and front of house equipment such as deep fat fryers, coffee machines, fridges/freezers/chillers.
- Keep the kitchen and preparation areas clean and tidy.
- Always comply with all Health & Safety / Food & Hygiene legislation and guidelines and ensure that relevant records are maintained.
- Support the Centre Manager with the planning and delivery of catering at events.
- Support the front of house team with service as required.
Person Specification:
Qualifications/Certificates:
- Essential: Food and Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 minimum, Full driving license
- Desirable: NVQ Level 2/3 in Food preparation/catering
Experience & Knowledge:
- Essential: Proven experience as a cook & ability to bake, Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and kitchen equipment including deep fat fryers, Menu planning, Food & Hygiene, Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, deep fat fryers etc.), Health & Safety in a kitchen environment.
- Desirable: Experience of working within the hospitality or events environment, Working within a customer service environment.

- Essential: Proven ability to prepare and cook a range of food, Ability to read and follow standardised recipes, Good interpersonal and people skills, Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels, Dealing with customer feedback in a calm and professional manner, Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, Passionate about food and customer service, Adapt to varying business levels, Good standard of personal hygiene and presentation, Have high standards and be quality driven, Flexible approach to work and ability to ‘think on your feet’, Be trustworthy and reliable.
