Philanthropic Manager World Green Building Council UK Fixed Term, One Year

World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is looking for a Philanthropic Manager to lead our grants and philanthropic income strategy, identifying, cultivating, and securing funding from foundations, government agencies, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) at a pivotal moment in our growth.
About the role
Working under the direction of the Senior Impact Director and alongside our Market Development Manager (who leads corporate partnerships), you\'ll build a robust, multi-year funding pipeline and lead the full funding cycle from prospect identification through proposal, negotiation, and close.
What you\'ll be doing
- Proactively identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities across foundations, government funders, and family offices with sustainability mandates
- Managing a portfolio of major grant funders, ensuring high quality stewardship, reporting, and renewal
- Leading the development of compelling funding proposals and cases for support
- Contributing to fundraising strategy, KPI tracking, and income forecasting
- Representing WorldGBC at sector events and within philanthropic and climate diplomacy circles
What we\'re looking for
- A demonstrable track record of securing significant grant income, ideally six- and seven-figure grants in an international or NGO context
- Existing networks in the philanthropic, climate, or sustainability funding landscape
- Proposal writing skills, with a strong grasp of funder priorities
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder funder relationships, including compliance and renewal cycles
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally regularly.
Experience in climate, sustainability, or international development is a plus, as is familiarity with EU or multilateral funding mechanisms (e.g. Green Climate Fund, GEF) or exposure to HNWI/family office fundraising.
