World Fuel is seeking an experienced Senior Manager | Aviation Fuel Pricing & Risk to play a critical leadership role within our EMEA Aviation business.

This position sits at the center of commercial decision-making, working across pricing, market risk, physical fuel supply, and financial hedging activities.

You'll partner closely with senior leaders across Supply, Commercial, Finance, Treasury, Product Control, and Trading functions to help protect profitability, manage market exposure, and support business performance across Europe.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with experience in aviation, energy, commodities, or fuel markets who enjoys operating at the intersection of trading, supply, risk, and commercial strategy.

The Opportunity

As Senior Manager, Pricing & Risk, you will be responsible for overseeing pricing methodologies, managing physical and financial market exposures, executing hedging strategies, and supporting business decisions through market insight and risk analysis.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution and will serve as a key advisor to the Aviation leadership team on pricing, risk management, and market developments.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Pricing Management
  • Oversee pricing methodologies and governance across the Aviation business.
  • Ensure contract pricing is calculated accurately and in accordance with agreed commercial terms.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly crude and oil product pricing activities.
  • Maintain pricing calendars, market indices, settlement data, and pricing benchmarks.
  • Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing controls, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management
  • Monitor and assess physical and financial commodity exposures across the Aviation portfolio.
  • Analyse Mark-to-Market (Mt M) positions, Value-at-Risk (Va R), basis exposure, and roll risk.
  • Identify and elevate risk limit breaches and lead resolution efforts.
  • Provide recommendations on risk mitigation and exposure management strategies.
  • Support leadership in evaluating risk appetite, exposure limits, and hedging effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of risk management frameworks and governance processes.
  • Hedging & Trading Support
  • Execute exchange-traded and OTC derivative transactions across Aviation, Land, and Marine businesses.
  • Manage daily and intraday hedging activities related to Aviation fuel positions.
  • Reconcile physical and financial positions with Supply teams and analysts.
  • Execute monthly hedge roll activities.
  • Develop and evaluate hedging strategies designed to support commercial objectives.
  • Coordinate with Treasury and FX teams to manage foreign exchange exposure.
  • Analyse market structure, basis exposure, and pricing dynamics impacting portfolio performance.
  • Commercial Analysis & Market Intelligence
  • Provide market intelligence, pricing forecasts, and strategic recommendations.
  • Support commercial planning and decision-making through detailed market analysis.
  • Deliver reporting and presentations for senior management and business leadership.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on commodity pricing, market risk, and hedging strategy.
  • Process Improvement
  • Drive enhancements to pricing, risk management, and reporting processes.
  • Support automation, controls improvements, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of systems, tools, and reporting frameworks that improve business performance.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Required Experience
  • Experience within aviation fuel, energy, commodities, oil, trading, or related markets.
  • Strong understanding of commodity pricing and risk management.
  • Experience managing physical and financial market exposures.
  • Knowledge of futures, swaps, derivatives, and hedging strategies.
  • Experience analysing Mark-to-Market positions, Value-at-Risk, basis exposure, and roll risk.
  • Strong commercial judgment and decision-making capability.
  • Experience developing and implementing risk management controls and governance frameworks.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders within a commercial environment.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Aviation fuel market experience.
  • ICE exchange and OTC derivatives experience.
  • Experience with ETRM / CTRM systems, particularly Triple Point CXL.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange markets and FX hedging.
  • Experience with process improvement, automation, and controls enhancement.
  • Power BI, SQL, Python, or VBA skills.
