The global energy system is expanding even as it transforms. Demand is rising, technologies are evolving rapidly, and geopolitical tensions are reshaping how energy decisions are made. In this environment, leaders must constantly balance energy security, affordability and environmental sustainability - navigating trade-offs that are increasingly visible across countries and sectors.
For more than a century, the World Energy Council has brought together leaders from across governments, industry and society to make sense of these shifts and learn from one another. Through our global network of leaders across nearly 100 countries, we create trusted space for dialogue, insight and collaboration. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Energy Insights Manager to play a pivotal role in generating high-quality, decision-relevant analysis that helps to shape the thinking of global energy leaders.
The Role
As Senior Energy Insights Manager, you will bring deep energy systems expertise, intellectual curiosity, and exceptional narrative clarity to the world’s oldest independent and impartial community of energy leaders and practitioners. Working closely with the Associate Director for Policy Pathfinding and Trilemma, and collaborating across Insights, Data, and Communications teams, you will own and develop core elements of the Council's insights pipeline - from agile briefs and signals-to-strategy notes to leadership dialogue summaries. Your outputs will be analytically robust, well-framed, and relevant to our leadership audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the synthesis of energy system signals, trends, and policy and market developments - applying in-depth knowledge to interpret implications for global energy transitions.
- Own and develop high-quality insight outputs, including agile briefs, signals-to-strategy notes, and dialogue summaries, delivering clear and decision-relevant content for senior audiences.
- Translate complex analysis and diverse inputs into coherent narratives and executive-level materials.
- Contribute to the preparation and structuring of leadership dialogues and lead post-dialogue synthesis to distil key insights and implications.
- Act as a recognised subject-matter expert on energy systems and transitions, advising colleagues and contributing specialist insight across the function.
- Uphold high analytical and editorial standards, applying best practice and professional judgement to continuously improve team processes and products.
What You Will Deliver
- A consistent flow of high-quality energy insight outputs aligned with team priorities and leadership demand – including agile briefs, signals-to-strategy notes, and leadership summaries – demonstrating strong analytical depth, narrative clarity, and relevance for senior audiences.
- Timely synthesis of leadership dialogues and major energy system developments into concise written outputs, ensuring insights are captured, structured, and circulated rapidly to inform ongoing work.
- Clear and consistent narrative translation of inputs from Issues Monitor, horizon scanning, scenarios, and external developments into coherent briefing materials and thought-leadership content.
- Demonstrably strengthened analytical depth, narrative clarity, and consistency across team outputs, reflecting the role’s contribution as a specialist resource and content lead.
- Predictable delivery of assigned outputs and priorities, contributing to a reliable and well-functioning insights pipeline.
About You
We are looking for a deep energy systems thinker who combines intellectual rigour with the ability to communicate with clarity and purpose. You will bring:
- In-depth experience in energy systems, markets, policy, or transitions.
- A demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information into clear, decision-relevant insights.
- A proven track record of producing high-quality written outputs for senior audiences.
- Experience contributing to or supporting leadership dialogues.
- Strong judgement and the ability to solve complex problems where precedent may not exist.
- Experience working in or with stakeholder-driven, membership-based, or networked organisations (e.g. NGOs, associations, or convening bodies) is an advantage.
- An independent, self-directed working style.
- A positive, solution-oriented approach and genuine collaborative instinct.
- Experience managing or mentoring colleagues is welcomed.
