We are now seeking a Government and Institutional Relations Manager who will play a key role in strengthening the World Energy Council’s capacity to engage with governments, embassies, and intergovernmental organisations (IGOs). Reporting to the Head of Government Relations, this role combines strategic support, stakeholder engagement, and operational delivery.
As a credible and outward-facing representative of the Council, you’ll play a key role in supporting the World Energy Congress 2026 and building long-term institutional partnerships to advance the Council’s global mission.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Protocol
- Represent the Council in day-to-day relations with ministries, embassies, missions, and IGOs.
- Provide protocol and logistical support for government delegations at Council events.
- Initiate and support ministerial and ambassadorial engagement around Congress ’26 and beyond.
Strategic Support
- Contribute proactively to the implementation of the Council’s Government and Institutional Relations strategy.
- Lead briefings for the Secretary General, Head of Government Relations, and senior leadership in preparation for high-level meetings.
- Champion the Council’s insights and tools, embedding them in government dialogues.
Operational Delivery
- Maintain accurate stakeholder data in CRM systems and trackers.
- Lead on drafting and managing official correspondence, briefings, and event communications.
- Track and report engagement progress to ensure accountability and impact.
- Work closely with Communications, Events, Membership, and Insights teams to coordinate engagement.
- Influence the delivery of Congress ’26 and other major Council programmes
Please note that you must be based in the UK to be considered for this role. We operate hybrid working arrangements, with regular attendance at our London office expected for this role.
About You
You are a diplomatic, organised, and globally minded professional with a passion for international engagement and sustainable energy transitions. You thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and can confidently engage with senior government and institutional stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Strong stakeholder management experience – ideally with government, diplomacy, or IGOs.
- Diplomatic presence and cultural intelligence, able to engage confidently with senior officials.
- Excellent communication and editorial skills with attention to detail and protocol.
- Naturally at ease liaising with multi-level stakeholders and experts, with strong relationship-building, collaboration and diplomacy skills in a cross-cultural, international environment.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Strong knowledge of international relations and global current affairs (energy sector experience a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
- Degree-level education in a relevant field.
- Proficient in the English language (Arabic, French, or Spanish an advantage).
