About World Challenge

Refined over 30 years, World Challenge trips focus on enriching the lives of young people through experiential travel. Our philosophy is based on the belief that character and perspective are developed through real-world experiences. Working in partnership with schools, World Challenge facilitates powerful, student-led expeditions across the world, providing opportunities for young people to develop crucial life skills, such as leadership, resilience and self-belief.

What you’ll be doing

As Regional Development Manager (RDM), you will spearhead World Challenge’s ambitious growth plans. Through new and repeat sales, RDMs will work towards, and look to over-deliver on, a regional sales target, whilst optimising the margin of every booking.

An RDM’s sole focus is to grow business in an allocated region. This will be done primarily through developing new business at non-client schools.

You’ll achieve this by:

  • Selling to non-client schools (50% of target)
  • Ensuring a high repeat rate from current clients (50% of target)
  • Generating as much margin as possible through bookings made
  • Proactively maintain a full diary of business development activities
  • With support of the Business Development Coordinator and marketing, generating new business leads
  • Conducting sales calls with educators at schools on Zoom or Teams where appropriate
  • Closing business opportunities by converting prospect schools into trip bookings
  • Recruiting students onto the trip bookings by delivering inspiring presentations to students and parents
  • Maintaining and utilising the CRM system for accurate forecasting of sales
  • Conducting presentations in video or in person to provide further insight into the experience and answer any questions or concerns
  • Deliver Pre-Departure Update meetings (mostly remotely, but some may be in person where necessary/appropriate)
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships through the sales process and laying stable foundations for our School Relationship Managers to continue supporting the school successfully
  • Establishing meaningful contact with Key Decision Makers (KDMs) such as Heads, Governors and Senior Leadership Teams. This may involve formal presentations, meetings, letter and email writing as well as phone conversations

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for passionate individuals to join our friendly and collaborative team. Our ideal candidate will have an interest in travel and adventure, an enthusiasm to learn and a commitment to high performance. If you’ve got these skills, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Previous experience in a business to business (B2B) sales role is essential. A proven track record of developing and closing new business is desirable
  • Ability to present confidently and fluently to large audiences (including students), both in person and remotely
  • Confident, tenacious and ambitious
  • Target driven and strong desire to develop, progress and close pipeline deals
  • Ability to convince and appeal to a wide range of stakeholders, including Key Decision Makers, Teachers, Parents and Students
  • High level persuasion and negotiation skills to ensure all possible sales are closed effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly and professional manner and ability to build great relationships

Some of the benefits

  • Opportunities to travel overseas on familiarisation trips
  • 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays and a bonus day off for your birthday; we also have a tenure based annual leave benefit, up to a maximum of an additional 5 days depending on length of service
  • Global recognition and reward programme
  • Access to extensive online learning resources
  • In-house training opportunities
  • Various employee discounts and offers, including discounted trips with our brands
