Be part of the team that defends the networks the world depends on. Corelight defends the world’s most sensitive networks—from global commerce to national defense—quietly, relentlessly, and with resolve. As cyber threats grow faster and smarter, we serve as the trusted force behind network resilience, putting elite defense within reach. By transforming digital footprints from physical, virtual, and cloud networks into actionable insights, we empower defenders to illuminate blind spots and stay ahead of an evolving threat landscape.
As a Lead Software Engineer on our Fleet team, you'll set the technical direction for the frontend that security teams rely on to operate fleets of Corelight sensors — sometimes hundreds at a time — and act on the configuration, lifecycle, and operational data those fleets produce. You'll bridge sophisticated APIs and the intuitive interfaces our customers depend on — partnering closely with our Lead Backend Engineer and a dedicated UX designer to shape an experience that lets defenders move with speed and precision. This is a role for a high-agency engineer who owns outcomes end-to-end: technical direction, frontend architecture, craft, and the user experience itself.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Drive End-to-End Frontend Architecture: Lead the technical design, implementation, and operation of the Fleet Manager UI—owning state management, data layers, module boundaries, performance tuning, and the long-term technical roadmap.
- Co-own the User Experience: Partner closely with a dedicated UX designer to define interaction patterns, refine complex data workflows, and make thoughtful product/UX trade-offs. Translate high-fidelity wireframes into accessible, performant, and delightful interfaces.
- Build for Real Operational Scale: Integrate complex REST and GraphQL APIs to power interactive interfaces that remain highly responsive when customers manage hundreds of live sensors concurrently.
- Steward the Design System: Champion the continuous evolution of our component library, ensuring consistency, reusability, and clean UI architecture across an expanding product surface area.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Elevate frontend engineering standards through architectural guidance, rigorous code reviews, and the promotion of clean, maintainable code. Play a key role in frontend hiring, interviewing, and onboarding to scale the team.
- Leverage AI-Assisted Engineering: Utilize modern AI-assisted development tools effectively to accelerate velocity while holding auto-generated code to the same rigorous quality, security, and testing standards as hand-written code.
- Security-First Engineering: Evaluate UI changes for security implications—including authentication/authorization flows, strict RBAC enforcement, XSS mitigation, and safe sensitive data handling—partnering with backend and security teams to neutralize risks.
- API Collaboration: Partner with the Lead Backend Engineer on REST and GraphQL contract designs, utilizing OpenAPI specs to ensure frontend and backend architectures evolve in lockstep.
- Operational Excellence: Own features completely from design to production by embedding automated test suites, CI/CD pipelines, performance budgets, and web accessibility checks directly into the core workflow.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities needed to be successful:
- Core Values Alignment: You natively embody "low ego results," "tireless service," and "applied curiosity" in your daily engineering practices and team interactions.
- Product & User Empathy: You are passionate about building interfaces that simplify dense, complex data representations into intuitive workflows for security defenders.
- Systems Thinking: You look beyond isolated components to understand how state, data flow, and frontend architecture tightly integrate across a massive, enterprise-scale application.
- Decisive Problem Solving: You comfortably navigate ambiguity, balance conflicting technical constraints, and make rapid, high-impact architectural decisions.
- Strategic Communication: You possess strong written and verbal communication skills used to influence product direction, align distributed teams, and articulate technical trade-offs clearly.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Professional Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a definitive track record in senior, staff, or lead frontend engineering roles.
- Frontend Mastery: Elite-level expertise in TypeScript, React, and the modern frontend ecosystem (advanced state management, build tooling, and modular architecture).
- Design Systems: Proven experience building, maintaining, or significantly scaling an enterprise-grade design system or shared component library.
- Data & API Proficiency: Strong experience consuming REST and GraphQL APIs to power data-heavy interfaces, with comfort parsing formal specifications like OpenAPI.
- Testing Rigor: Deep familiarity with modern testing frameworks across unit, component, and end-to-end (E2E) automation layers to prevent production regressions.
- Web Accessibility: A verified commitment to building inclusive, WCAG-compliant accessible user interfaces.
- Cross-Functional Background: Extensive experience collaborating alongside UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent enterprise professional experience).
Preferred Experience:
- Enterprise security background, network product familiarity, or experience running technical hiring loops for scaling frontend teams.
Notice of Pay Transparency: The compensation for this position may vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. Depending on the nature and seniority of the role, a percentage of compensation may come in the form of a commission-based or discretionary bonus. Equity and additional benefits will also be awarded. Compensation Range $170,000 — $220,000 USD.
