Our local authority client based in York is looking for a qualified plumber for an immediate start. This is a temporary role for a minimum of 6 months, with the potential to go permanent. The work will involve a mix of residential homes and flats. The role is Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, within a pre‑allocated appointment system in the York district. The rate of pay is up to £25.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
Responsibilities
- You will need a proven track record of working in a customer‑focused environment carrying out building repairs.
- Maintenance and renewals, from emergency to other routine reactive repairs, on numerous sites daily to single‑site programmed repairs and refurbishment work.
Qualifications and Skills
- The ideal applicant will be an experienced, well‑skilled plumber with a residential and/or commercial background.
- You must have a current UK driving licence and hold the appropriate trade qualifications (NVQ / City and Guilds or equivalent).
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy and reactive workload are essential.
- You are expected to carry out the necessary work yourself, at times without supervision, and to liaise with the wider team, following instruction and completing works in a timely manner.
