Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys both strategic decision-making and hands-on accounting? We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to take full ownership of our client's finance function. You'll work closely with the Founder/CEO, combining day-to-day bookkeeping and credit control with forecasting, margin analysis, and high-level financial guidance.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Software Expertise: Must be an absolute Xero expert. Deep familiarity with its reporting, bank feeds, and add-ons is non-negotiable.
  • Experience: 3+ years in a similar Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or Senior Bookkeeper role. Experience within wholesale, distribution, or import/export is a strong advantage.
  • Credit Control Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills. You must be comfortable picking up the phone to chase money and assertive enough to enforce payment terms.
  • Commercial Mindset: You understand the mechanics of business margins (cost vs. sell price) and can provide actionable advice to the CEO rather than just reporting the numbers.
  • Independence: Highly self-motivated. You are comfortable being the sole finance person in the business and taking absolute accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of company accounts, bookkeeping, reconciliations, expenses, and financial processes.
  • Proactive credit control, chasing outstanding payments and managing debtor relationships.
  • Managing customer rebates, commission calculations, and monthly payroll support.
  • Producing accurate cash flow forecasts and advising on margins, pricing, and stock purchasing decisions.
  • Acting as the key liaison with external accountants for VAT, year-end accounts, and tax compliance.
  • Implementing robust financial controls and ensuring compliance with UK accounting regulations.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience.
  • A pivotal role within an ambitious and growing tech company.
  • Direct collaboration with the Founder/CEO.
  • Pension scheme and genuine career progression opportunities.
