Technical Manager – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning East & West Sussex £60,000 Permanent Join a growing, well-established engineering business delivering commercial cooling, heating and refrigeration solutions across the region. This hands-on Technical Manager role bridges the office and field, providing technical leadership while developing engineers and apprentices. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance while supporting continued business growth. Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate and supervise engineers and apprentices. Provide senior technical support on complex faults, commissioning and system design. Carry out site surveys, technical scopes and equipment selections. Oversee F-Gas compliance, RAMS, safety audits and quality standards. Support REFCOM Elite requirements and maintain audit-ready records. Plan PPM, reactive and project work with the office team using JobLogic. Support tenders, technical method statements and client meetings. Monitor job costs, identify remedial opportunities and manage technical complaints. Skills & Knowledge Required 7+ years’ commercial AC/refrigeration engineering experience. 2+ years’ experience supervising or leading engineers. F-Gas Category 1 and NVQ Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent. Strong fault-finding experience across split, VRF/VRV and heat pump systems. Proven chiller experience, including scroll, screw or water-cooled systems. SSSTS/SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely and TM44/energy assessment experience. Strong communication, organisation and commercial awareness. Full UK driving licence. Experience using job management software; JobLogic experience is advantageous.
