We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Maker to join a specialist automotive engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Tool Maker / Toolroom Engineer to work on a varied range of components and assemblies within a specialist vintage and classic automotive environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying and repairing components to engineering drawings and specifications, using a range of manual machining and toolroom techniques.
Duties will include:
- Manual milling, turning and surface grinding.
- Bench fitting, deburring and hand finishing.
- Manufacture of components and assemblies to drawing specification.
- Stripping, assessing and rebuilding vehicle sub-assemblies.
- Modifying parts to support the vehicle workshop.
- Inspecting components and approving first-off production.
- Working to agreed production priorities and schedules.
- Completing inspection records and other production documentation.
- General workshop duties including material handling and cutting.
The Person
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Time-served apprenticeship training.
- Strong Tool Maker / Toolroom experience.
- Good manual machining and bench-fitting skills.
- Ability to accurately work from engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive, hands-on approach.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
- 2–3+ years’ relevant experience.
