Our client, a family-run business specialising in critical power solutions, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for taking projects from initial concept through to detailed design, delivering bespoke solutions that meet client requirements and comply with all relevant technical standards. This is a hands-on design position where your proficiency in AutoCAD and strong understanding of UK electrical regulations will be essential. Job Responsibilities Design and develop electrical systems for generator backup power installations, including specifying LV switchgear, control panels, generator controllers, and integration with UPS/uninterruptible power supply systems. Provide design and engineering support for both low (LV) and high (HV) voltage applications Responsible for the design and drawing up of electrical schematics, including CDM and BS7671 regulation. Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules using AutoCAD. Maintain clear, well-organized drawings and documentation for all projects, enabling effective installation and future maintenance. Identify resources required for the design and project build and assist Sales with technical input to facilitate accurate quotations and detailed design specifications Prepare technical documentation to support your designs. Person Specification Must have appropriate electrical design engineering experience, ideally minimum ONC / HNC in electrical engineering Proven experience in power distribution and 3 phase systems knowledge of electrical engineering principles and components. Strong understanding of BS 7671 standards for electrical installations and a working knowledge of other relevant UK regulations and standards Excellent IT and AutoCAD (or similar) knowledge Proven experience of design and estimating within an electrical environment, design of switchgear, control panels and experience of PLC programming an advantage.
