Current opportunity: EAP Counsellor
Location: UK
Full-time/Part-time: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Shifts: Monday - Friday: 10am - 6:30pm
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 gross per annum. The position also has a bonus structure and competitive benefits offering.
Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Remote or hybrid depending on your proximity to our Ealing, London office.
What you will do: Our EAP Counsellors engage with participants over the phone, video, chat & email all while demonstrating what we call: The Power of a Good Conversation – creating a connection with the client to ensure they feel heard, supported, and cared for. It’s difficult to describe an average day for our counsellors, as each caller presents with a unique set of challenges, and it would be from your clinical conversation that would help each person navigate a way forward. If you are a mental health provider that wants to provide emotional support with a warm and empathic approach to people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds from around the world, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
- Provide single session telephonic and video counselling, in-the-moment support and crisis management in a supportive, ethical and professional manner while maintaining client confidentiality.
- Assess clients thoroughly to ensure appropriateness for short-term counselling.
- Assess and manage high risk calls and work closely with individuals at risk.
- Appropriately refer clients to external resources or within WPO as part of our holistic approach.
- Collaboratively develop clear and concise treatment plans for clients.
- Maintain clear clinical and task-oriented documentation in case management system.
- Any additional tasks pertinent to the position, as deemed appropriate by management.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum of a Level 4 diploma in Counselling.
- Full Registration with or member of a regulatory counselling body (BACP/BPS/UKCP/Other).
- Experience using short-term counselling modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness, Integrative, Systemic counselling.
- Training in crisis intervention and supporting high risk clients beneficial.
- Passionate about providing support to clients from anywhere in the world.
- Culturally sensitive to our clients and flexible using a telephonic interpreter as needed.
- Competent in using our various methods of contact – telephone, video, email, text and live chat.
- Ability to work with clients presenting with substance abuse, situations of crisis, mental health symptoms and/or family/relationship-related concerns impacting personal or work performance.
