Overview

Workplace Doctors is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor on a full or part-time basis to join a multi-disciplinary team for our client\’s clinic in Northamptonshire. The role will also involve travel to the surrounding area of Northamptonshire. The post will be working 3, 4 or 5 days per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for pro-active sickness absence management of short and long-term absence cases, both face to face and via telephone consultations.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on phased return to work programmes.
  • Conducting health assessments, reporting on outcomes within agreed timescales, policies and procedures and NMC guidelines.
  • Managing health records, ensuring safe storage, security and confidentiality of all OH records, in line with relevant legislation and good practice.
  • Producing management reports as required.
  • Actively promoting fitness for work, both preventative and rehabilitative, raising the profile of OH amongst employees and management.
  • Supporting the business in reducing absence and improving people potential at all times.
  • Providing clear pragmatic advice to clients and employees that adds value to decision making.
  • Seeking continuous improvement in the service, identifying opportunities to develop the function and proposing improvements.
  • Attending meetings with client HR and Health and Safety teams.
  • Maintaining excellent client relationships; candidates must be able to organise, prioritise and co-ordinate their workload. Confidence and first-rate communication skills are essential.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC Pin.
  • Hold or be working towards an Occupational Health qualification (certificate, degree or diploma).
  • Experience working in an Occupational Health role, preferably as an advisor.
  • Effective report writing skills and excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • IT skills in Outlook, Word; PowerPoint preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Knowledge of safety law and equal opportunities legislation.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Occupational Health qualification or equivalent (Cert/Dip/Degree) and NMC Part 3 registration desirable or considerable experience in Occupational Health.
