HCPC Registration Required (Health & Care Professionals Council) is essential. Applications from Health & Care Professionals requiring a Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcomed and will be considered based on appropriate experience. Upon appointment, the relevant paperwork will be issued to the successful applicant.
Overview
To participate in a structured program supporting newly qualified paramedics in the ambulance service, enabling the application of academic knowledge and placement experience into confident practice. The program lasts two years and includes reflective practice and feedback, with clinical supervision to support learning.
The NQP
Will operate within Trust policies, JRCALC guidelines, protocols, procedures, and SOPs. They must seek advice or refer to a senior clinical colleague when deviating from standard practices. The NQP will always have access to clinical advice and support but must follow Trust protocols when making decisions.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and urgent calls, providing high-quality prehospital care and transportation, including 999 emergencies and inter-hospital transfers.
- Assess, care, treat, and transport patients, working in various locations.
- Utilize advanced driving skills when responding or conveying patients.
- Initiate appropriate care and treatment within scope of practice, seeking clinical support as needed.
- Complete vehicle checks, restocking, and reporting issues.
- Work within scope of practice, adhering to protocols and guidelines.
- Refer patients to social care agencies when appropriate, reducing unnecessary emergency service demand.
- Maintain skills for procedures like defibrillation, cannulation, intubation, etc., seeking support as needed.
- Ensure continuous patient care and monitor until discharge, referral, or transfer.
- Use clinical decision support software where available.
- Follow Trust policies, treat and release patients, and seek advice when necessary.
- Attend to patients in various settings, providing initial care and handing over responsibility to more experienced staff when available.
- Undertake manual handling procedures safely.
- Perform physical examinations, triage, and administer drugs according to guidelines.
- Record observations and ensure confidentiality.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting non-registered staff.
- Maintain knowledge of ambulance practices and communicate effectively with staff and patients.
- Ensure the security of patients\’ property and equipment.
- Provide feedback on safety, risks, and incidents.
- Promote equality and diversity, adhering to governance policies.
- Complete documentation as per guidelines.
- Maintain professional conduct and registration with HCPC.
- Engage in continuous professional development and reflection.
- Participate in performance reviews and identify development needs.
- Behave professionally and uphold trust values.
- This role may involve other duties as required, with periodic review of responsibilities.
Essential Requirements
