Workonomics are partnering with an InsurTech scale-up who to date have received over half a billion $ in funding.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll join a small, high-impact Forward Engineering team.
This role isn’t about delivering features for a single product — it’s about identifying high-leverage technical problems across the organisation and driving solutions that improve reliability, architecture, engineering effectiveness, and scale.
You’ll work alongside Principal and Staff Engineers to influence engineering practices, promote technical excellence, and accelerate delivery across multiple teams.
Who You Are
- A seasoned backend or full-stack engineer with a proven track record of technical leadership beyond a single team
- Comfortable owning complex problems end-to-end, from discovery to delivery
- Skilled in a modern backend stack (e.g., JVM languages, Python, TypeScript) and can contribute elsewhere when needed
- Passionate about clean design, automated testing, and sustainable engineering practices
- Able to influence without authority — bringing technical and non-technical partners along with you
Why This Role Matters
You won’t be another cog in the machine. You’ll help shape how engineering works at scale, making real improvements to reliability, velocity, and developer experience. This is a rare opportunity to be a multiplier.
