A Client Accountant who is responsible for the management of client relationships, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all reporting and recording of accounting transactions, of diverse property portfolios consisting of commercial, industrial & retail properties. This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and acting as a key finance contact for both internal stakeholders and external clients. You will play a crucial role in managing the full accounting cycle for your portfolio, providing insight and added value through strong financial control, analysis, and client relationship management.

Building and maintaining close professional relationships with clients, tenants, and colleagues both within the accounting teams and the wider business is paramount to your success. Using your initiative will be encouraged. The role requires a high volume of processing of financial data as well as thorough reviews and reporting of this data to our clients. To be successful in this role, you will require a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational, prioritisation and communication skills as well as good team working skills and a desire to learn and develop within your role.
Day to day you'll
- Manage the end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Have oversight of the service charge budgets and answer any queries made by the Service Charge Accounting team.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, arrears, and client bank accounts.
- Review and approve transactions, postings, and reconciliations completed by junior team members.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, auditors, and property managers.
- Ensure compliance with RICS guidelines, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Support and mentor Assistant Client Accountants.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality.
- Lead the Assistant Client Accountant & Accounts Administrators within the team, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time, and to internal and client KPIs to ensure a best in class service is delivered to all Workman clients.
What We Expect Of You
- Proven experience in a Client Accountant or similar role within real estate is preferred.
- Knowledge of property accounting and property finance regulations (RICS preferred).
- Ability to manage a portfolio independently.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and property accounting systems (e.g. Yardi, TRAMPS, etc.).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Professional qualification (AAT qualified / part-qualified ACCA preferred).
