About the role
The Health & Safety team ensures that Workman delivers a robust and compliant service aligned with UK statutory requirements and industry best practice across our 11 offices and throughout our managed commercial property portfolio. This role provides support to both our internal teams within the Workman portfolio and our Property Managers, onsite management teams, and tenants by developing safe systems of work, delivering effective training, reducing risks, and helping to maintain a safe environment for all occupiers, visitors, and employees.
Objective: To provide support and assistance to the Firm in the day-to-day management of Health and Safety, covering regional area.
What matters most in this role:
- Provide H&S advice and support to all operational employees including those based at properties under our management.
- Ensuring robust, compliant and high-quality risk assessments are carried out and that resulting actions are communicated effectively and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate and engage regularly with the wider Health and Safety team who cover different areas across the UK.
- Keep up to date with industry best Health & Safety practices and deliver recommendations relevant to new legislation.
- This is a remote-based role where regular onsite visits are essential. A full UK driving licence is an essential requirement.
Day to day you’ll:
- Undertake site specific risk assessments and audits.
- Undertake the role as the appointed person for Fire Warden and First Aider for your specified office(s).
- Respond to and investigate Health and Safety incidents, where necessary, including relevant escalations and liaison with external authorities.
- Work closely with the Claims Team to ensure each claim is progressing and the correct parties are aware.
- Provide assistance and support with the use of the Firms web-enabled H&S databases and electronic management systems.
- Assist with maintaining the Firms ISO:45001 standards and support the auditing process where necessary.
- Track and close out all actions from risk assessments in agreed timescales.
- Assist onsite staff with inspections, safe working practices, and compliance queries.
- Assist with the development, implementation and management of H&S policies and procedures throughout the Workman group.
- Support wider wellbeing and staff safety initiatives.
What we expect of you:
- Proven experience in a H&S role within the Real Estate and Property industry.
- H&S diploma and chartered member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
- Extensive knowledge in Fire Safety within the built environment.
- Relevant H&S/Fire qualifications and associated industry memberships.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Prior knowledge of using web-enabled risk management systems.
