Help us make a big green dent in the universe.

We're on a mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution, and we need many more people to help us make our vision a reality.

Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) is a leader in sourcing, investing in, and managing a wide range of utility-scale renewable energy assets.

As we continue to expand our investment base, we are dedicated to building a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve.

Currently, we manage a global portfolio of over £8 billion in renewable energy assets.

We are committed to delivering best-in-class responsible investment activity, offering like-minded investors the means and products to invest their capital sustainably.

It is our ambition to change the entire energy lifecycle and make every green electron matter, delivering the best outcomes for customers, investors, the environment and society, accelerating the transition to net zero.

About the role

The Development Portfolio Management Team at OEGEN is responsible for delivering our development investments and works hand in hand with developers to deliver on the investment cases in changing commercial and market dynamics.

This role will play an investment-led role in the active management of a portfolio of renewable energy development platforms.

The role will focus on financial modelling, investment appraisal, portfolio performance, capital allocation and the preparation of high-quality materials for investment committees, boards and other decision-making forums.

Working across the Portfolio team, internal specialist functions and portfolio company management teams, you will assess development progress, funding requirements, project economics, valuations and material risks across the portfolio.

The role will initially focus on analytical and investment work across multiple platforms rather than independent ownership of individual portfolio companies.

Responsibility will increase over time as the individual develops their knowledge of the portfolio and demonstrates strong investment judgement.

  • Investment Committee & Decision-Making

  • Capital Allocation & Project Investment Decisions
  • Development Spend Evaluation: Review requests for development expenditure and additional shareholder funding across competing projects and platforms.
  • Stage-Gate Challenge: Rigorously challenge development timing, probability, and cost assumptions to decide whether to fund, pause, restructure, or sell projects.
  • Bolt-On Acquisitions & Exits
  • Portfolio Company Bolt-Ons: Provide shareholder oversight, valuation, and IC approval materials for acquisitions originated by portfolio companies.
  • Platform & Project Exits: Analyze sale opportunities and transaction readiness for platform disposals or project transfers into operational IPP structures.
  • Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Portfolio Company Governance: Act as a board observer or steering committee member for selected portfolio companies, reviewing reserved matters and tracking board actions.
  • Management Team Relationship: Partner with portfolio company executives to challenge commercial data and improve governance consistency.
  • Reporting & Valuation
  • Platform Performance Reporting: Manage quarterly reporting across all development platforms, tracking development KPIs, liquidity, and milestone delivery.
  • Development Valuations: Maintain portfolio company and project valuation models, explaining value movements relative to operational delivery and market conditions.
