A vacancy has arose for the post of Cadet Administrative Assistant at Shropshire Army Cadet Force based at Copthorne barracks, Shrewsbury. Applicants should preferably reside in the Shropshire area or be prepared to commute at their own expense. Ideally they should have previous service in the Regular or Reserve Forces to the rank of Sergeant or equivalent.

The current salary for this post is £32,204 per annum (all hours worked), with a holiday entitlement of 25 days rising to 30 days after 5 years, (or 30 days on commencement if the successful applicant has previous military experience). They will also be eligible to join the Council of RFCAs Pension Scheme. This is a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme.

Applicants should:

  • Have a sound knowledge of administrative and stores procedures.
  • Be prepared to undertake daily manual tasks.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Hold a current driving licence (Cat D is preferable).
  • Be prepared to work evenings and weekends.

The successful applicant as a condition of employment will be required to join the Army Cadet Force and would be remunerated at the appropriate rate for any training carried out in accordance with the current regulations, in addition to the salary quoted above. Applicants will be required to provide two suitable referees with their permission and must undergo Security Clearance (SC) and a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Disclosures may affect your appointment to the job.
