Job Introduction

Are you highly organised with excellent administration skills and a passion for delivering great customer service? We are looking for a Transport Operations Administrator to join our team at Merville Barracks, Colchester, CO2 7UT, supporting the delivery of vital transport services to the MOD. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a busy operational environment where no two days are the same. You will work closely with the Transport team, MOD personnel, and customers to ensure transport requests are managed efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards.

What You'll Do

  • Support the day-to-day coordination and administration of transport services across the site.
  • Coordinating transport bookings using the MOD Clarity booking system and internal helpdesk systems.
  • Allocating vehicles from the core fleet and arranging hire vehicles where required.
  • Validating transport requests to ensure accuracy, authorisation, and entitlement.
  • Liaising with MOD customers, transport sections, and Sodexo transport teams.
  • Maintaining accurate transport records and ensuring documentation is archived compliantly.
  • Assisting with vehicle compliance, including maintenance and MOT bookings.
  • Maintaining vehicle handover/takeover documentation and reporting any vehicle damage.
  • Supporting the management of fleet cleanliness, security, and key control.
  • Producing reports and supporting contractual transport administration requirements.
  • Answering helpdesk queries and providing excellent customer support.
  • Supporting the Transport Operations Supervisor and wider management team as required.

What You Bring

  • Strong administration and communication skills.
  • Strong numerical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • 2 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) or NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good typing and administration skills.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Welfare in the workplace.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar administration or transport role.
  • Experience working within a military environment.
  • Strong teamworking skills.
