This is a Part Time, Permanent Position. Hull Domestic Abuse Partnership (DAP) is seeking to appoint a motivated and dynamic individual to the role of Lived Experience and Volunteer Coordinator. The post holder will use a trauma-informed, person-centred, and strengths-based approach to coordinate and support volunteers and individuals with lived experience of domestic abuse. The role will ensure that survivor voices are safely captured and meaningfully embedded within service delivery and ongoing service development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate lived experience involvement activities (e.g. forums, panels, co-production workshops), ensuring safe and meaningful participation.
- Recruit, induct, and support volunteers in line with safer recruitment, safeguarding, and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) standards.
- Deliver and/or arrange training for volunteers and lived experience participants using trauma-informed approaches.
- Undertake risk assessments and ensure all activity complies with safeguarding procedures and confidentiality requirements.
- Provide regular supervision, wellbeing support, and performance management for volunteers and participants.
- Translate feedback from lived experience into service improvements and monitor outcomes (“You said, we did”).
- Build effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders to support engagement and participation opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and produce reports in line with organisational requirements.
- Support the planning and delivery of inclusive communication, engagement, and consultation events.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of working with victims/survivors of domestic abuse, or within safeguarding services for adults or children.
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice and strength-based approaches.
- Aware of the Duluth model, coercive control, power imbalances, and gender inequality in relation to domestic abuse.
- Ability to engage and empower individuals in a supportive, non-judgemental way.
- Strong communication, organisational, and partnership working skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative effectively.
- Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and relevant legislation.
- Ability to deliver group work programmes.
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
The post holder will use a trauma‐informed, person‐centred approach to coordinate, support, and empower people with lived experience and volunteers ensuring their voices are safely and meaningfully integrated into the support work provided and service development of the Hull Domestic Abuse Partnership.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
- Coordinate Lived Experience Involvement: Plan, facilitate and record survivor involvement activities (e.g., forums, panels, co‐design workshops) to ensure meaningful, safe participation that shapes service design and delivery.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding: Recruit and induct volunteers in line with safeguarding, safer recruitment, and equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) standards; maintain up‐to‐date role profiles and induction materials.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver (or arrange) trauma‐informed, person‐centred training for volunteers and lived experience participants; assess learning needs and evaluate impact.
- Safeguarding & Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments for all client participation activity; uphold confidentiality, boundaries and information‐sharing protocols; escalate concerns promptly in line with Hull DAP safeguarding procedures.
- Support & Supervision: Provide regular wellbeing check‐ins, reflective supervision, and practical support to volunteers and lived experience contributors; manage attendance, conduct and performance issues appropriately. Ensure all activity adheres to trauma‐informed principles, safeguarding legislation, GDPR, and Hull City Council/Hull DAP policies; contribute to policy updates, audits and continuous improvement.
- Co‐Production & Service Improvement: Translate feedback and insights from lived experience into actionable recommendations; track actions to completion and report on changes made (“you said, we did”).
- Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective relationships with internal teams and external agencies to widen participation pathways and coordinate joint initiatives.
- Data, Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of participation and volunteering activity and produce timely reports for team managers.
- Communications & Events: Develop accessible communications and coordinate safe, inclusive events and consultations; ensure consent and anonymity protocols are followed.
