Overview

A skilled Maintenance Engineer for a growing Clinical Waste client. This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping plant and equipment running reliably, minimising downtime, and delivering continual improvement.

Salary & Benefits

  • £45,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday (with on‑call rota)
  • 20 days annual leave
  • Opportunity to work on projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed preventive and corrective maintenance in line with schedules and safety procedures.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on plant, machinery and process equipment.
  • Provide rapid technical response to breakdowns to minimise downtime, applying safe working practices at all times.
  • Investigate root cause of failures in reactive maintenance scenarios and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Plan and coordinate planned plant shutdowns around site operations.
  • Organise and manage contractors during onsite works to ensure quality, safety and timely completion.
  • Procure parts and liaise with suppliers as required.

Skills & Experience (Essential)

  • Proven maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Able to work independently, prioritise tasks and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and experience dealing with contractors and suppliers.
  • Willingness to participate in on‑call.

Desirable

  • Welding experience.
  • Experience delivering small projects and continuous improvement activities.
