About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee 2 depots based in the London area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing fleet operations, driver performance, compliance, and route planning, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our transport services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management:
    • Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure road worthiness
    • Monitor vehicle usage, fuel efficiency, and implement cost-saving measures
  • Driver Management:
    • Ensure driver qualifications and training records are up-to-date
    • Monitor driver hours and compliance with working time regulations
    • Address driver performance issues and concerns
  • Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure adherence to all transport laws, road safety, environmental, and customs regulations
    • Maintain operator licenses and required documentation
    • Stay updated on changes to legislation and industry best practices
  • Route Planning and Optimisation:
    • Plan efficient delivery routes to minimise costs and delivery times
    • Coordinate with customers to meet delivery schedules
    • Address disruptions to delivery schedules promptly
  • Accident and Incident Management:
    • Investigate road traffic accidents involving company vehicles
    • Implement preventative measures to reduce future incidents
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Produce regular performance reports on fleet operations, costs, and compliance
    • Identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes

Essential Qualifications:

  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • In-depth knowledge of UK transport regulations and legislation
  • Proven experience in fleet management and logistics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions
