Join to apply for the Motor Vehicle Tutor role at Workforce Training Services.

Location: Belfast. The post-holder will be based at the offices of Workforce Training Services at 88/120 Springfield Road Belfast BT12 7AJ. The duties will require travel to other site offices to meet the needs of the Company.

Position

Motor Vehicle Tutor (MV/0424)

Hours

38 Hours Per Week. Monday to Friday. The post may include other occasional evening and weekend duties for which time off in lieu will be allowed at senior management’s discretion.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • To devise and implement vocational training programmes within the training section to required levels.
  • To ensure that the training contains an effective mix of theoretical and practical content.
  • To prepare and maintain training materials and documentation.
  • To liaise with sectoral representatives in the development of training programmes and ensure new developments are incorporated into the training.
  • To assist in the recruitment of students as reasonably required by management.
  • To co-operate and assist the Placement Team to secure quality placements for students and create and maintain good professional relations with employers both current and potential.
  • To assist in the preparation and implementation of induction sessions for students.

Training Delivery

  • To deliver training programmes, using a range of methods, according to National standards and within required timescales and as required by line management. Both face to face and remote learning delivery.
  • Create online course materials for key training programmes in a variety of formats (e.g., eLearning, videos, screen recordings, webinars).
  • Enhance students learning experiences using modern online education technologies.
  • To ensure that programme and student records are processed and maintained in accordance with company policies and contractual guidelines.
  • Create and edit online course materials to be hosted on a Digital Learning Platform.
  • To ensure an efficient and cost-effective use of material resources within the essential skills section.
  • To liaise with and facilitate visits from sectorial representatives and external verifiers.
  • To ensure that company and Department for the Economy outcome targets are achieved.
  • To deliver training programmes for external clients as required by line management.
  • To deliver training programmes outside of the main Vocational Skills as required by line management.

Special Conditions & Students

  • To assess the students skills, identifying needs and support required.
  • To ensure completion of students Personal Training Plans and Reviews.
  • To report on participants attendance at work placements and/or directed training.
  • To quality assure directed training and work placements and monitor and maintain existing relationships with employers.
  • To promote new working relationships with placement providers/ employers.
  • Promote students progression to accreditation and employment.

Monitoring & Assessment

  • To ensure that vocationally related qualifications and key Essential Skills competences are assessed to National Standards.
  • To review and assess progress and achievement of students and maintain adequate records at all times in accordance with company policy.

Training Environment

  • Ensure that safe working practices, security awareness and housekeeping are maintained at all times.
  • To implement a Health and Safety programme in accordance with appropriate legislation.
  • To report, record and investigate accidents within the training section.
  • To retain direct responsibility for clients within the section.
  • To supervise clients within other training sections as required by line management.

General

  • To attend staff, H&S and other meetings as required by line management.
  • To provide regular and ad-hoc reports as required by line management.
  • To participate in staff development and training as identified by line management.
  • To carry out other reasonable duties as required by line management.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification or above in Motor Vehicle.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a mechanic in the Motor Vehicle Industry.
  • Current driving license and access to own vehicle.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of training and assessing Motor Vehicle studies in a Further Education setting and/or Training Organisation.
  • Certificate in Teaching Qualification.
  • Assessors Award Qualification.
  • Grade A*-C in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.

Applicants for this post must have good organisational, administrative and communication skills, an adaptable personality and an understanding of the particular needs and problems of young people from marginalised backgrounds and/or with disabilities.

The successful candidate will be required to satisfy a pre-employment check undertaken by Assess NI in accordance with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order 2007.
