Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Workshop Mechanic to join a busy machinery sales, hire, and service business. This role is ideal for someone with proven mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repair skills who takes pride in their work and enjoys keeping equipment in peak working condition.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of machinery, including mowers, wood chippers, stump grinders, and other groundcare equipment.

Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.

Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify and resolve faults efficiently.

Undertake mechanical fitting, fabrication, and adjustments where required.

Complete service records, job sheets, and parts usage logs accurately and on time.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards.

Liaise with parts suppliers and other departments to ensure timely repairs and minimise delays.

Test equipment thoroughly to ensure it is safe, reliable, and ready for return to service.

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in a similar role working on plant, groundcare, or arboricultural machinery.

Strong fault-finding skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Good organisational and time-management abilities.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

Full UK driving licence.

Familiarity with major machinery brands such as Stihl, Husqvarna, Först, Avant, and Kioti.

Welding and fabrication skills are advantageous.
