This role is primarily based in Worcester, with up to 60% travel to supplier sites across the UK and Europe.
Your Mission:
- Supplier Qualification & Auditing
- Lead supplier audits (initial, process, surveillance) to verify compliance with quality, safety, and delivery standards.
- Assess suppliers against ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and PED standards.
- Qualify and onboard new suppliers through structured screening and capability assessments.
- Monitor approvals, certifications, and supplier performance against contractual and regulatory obligations.
- Supplier Development & Performance Management
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier quality, delivery, and process capability.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (8D), and performance recovery plans.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Production to align supplier capabilities with product and manufacturing needs.
- Maintain and communicate supplier quality metrics, scorecards, and risk profiles.
- Technical Quality Support
- Review supplier documentation including weld procedures, inspection reports, material certificates, and quality plans.
- Support introduction and validation of new or modified components/subassemblies.
- Participate in PPAP, FAIR, or equivalent product validation processes.
- Ensure compliance with pressure vessel and safety regulations relevant to supplied components.
- Continuous Improvement
- Promote best practices in lean manufacturing, process control, defect reduction, and first-time-right culture among suppliers.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects focused on cost reduction, risk mitigation, or product launch readiness.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, or related field.
- Experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in manufacturing, HVAC, or engineered products.
- Strong auditing skills with knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and PED.
- Technical knowledge of fabrication, welding, CNC machining, assembly, and quality inspection techniques.
- Full UK Driver’s Licence.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel ~60% to UK and European suppliers.
- Formal qualifications in Engineering, Metallurgy, or Manufacturing Technology.
- Certified Lead/Internal Auditor (e.g., IRCA).
- Knowledge of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, and copper.
- Experience using APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, or other structured quality tools.
