Position Summary:
A leading steel processing and fabrication company based in Wednesbury is looking for an experienced Welder to join their team. This is a hands-on role working within a busy steel processing environment, producing high-quality welded products for various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out MIG welding on mild steel components of varying sizes and thicknesses
* Perform fabrication work from technical drawings and work instructions
* Prepare materials, including cutting, grinding, and setting up components prior to welding
* Inspect and check the quality of welds to meet required specifications
* Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
* Use overhead cranes and slings to move and position steel products (training provided if required)
* Work as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company health & safety policies
Skills & Experience Required:
* Minimum of 5 years\’ experience in welding and fabrication
* Proven experience in MIG welding (experience with structural steel preferred)
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Previous work within a steel processing, fabrication, or manufacturing environment is desirable
* Good attention to detail with a focus on producing quality work
* Experience using overhead cranes and slinging methods (preferred but not essential)
* A strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
