Are you an experienced Transport Planner, Traffic Planner or Transport Coordinator looking for your next opportunity? Workforce Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a well-established and growing logistics operation based in Droitwich. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience working on a transport desk or within a busy transport operation, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems and making decisions quickly.
You will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the transport operation, ensuring routes and loads are planned efficiently, deliveries are completed on time and drivers are fully supported throughout their shifts.
The Role
- Planning efficient and cost-effective delivery routes and schedules
- Planning journeys, loads and driver schedules
- Managing and prioritising workloads across the transport operation
- Providing driver briefings and debriefings
- Monitoring deliveries and proactively managing delays and missed time slots
- Communicating with drivers, customers, suppliers and other transport teams
- Liaising with other depots to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Booking agency drivers to meet operational requirements
- Monitoring driver performance and transport compliance
- Working closely with drivers and the Compliance team to minimise infringements
- Ensuring vehicles and trailers are available for inspections and compliance requirements
- Maintaining accurate records and information on transport systems
- Using Excel and transport planning systems to manage operational data
- Supporting colleagues and management with transport-related queries and issues
- Ensuring all health & safety and operational procedures are followed
About You
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Traffic Planner, Transport Coordinator or similar
- Good geographical knowledge
- A strong understanding of transport legislation, regulations and compliance
- Experience with DVSA/VOSA compliance
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Stirling or a similar Transport Management System is advantageous
- A proactive, flexible and positive can-do attitude
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider transport team
- National CPC desirable but not essential
